For residents of Florida, unemployment and lack of health insurance are big contributors of stress.
Some states are more stressed-out than others. In fact, Florida, ranks as the most stressed-out state in a study conducted by Movoto, a real estate blog.
The top 10 list also includes Georgia in second place, followed by New Jersey, California, Nevada, Illinois, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, and Arizona. North Dakota is the least stressed state in America.
To measure stress, the study focused on six criteria determined to make individuals stressed-out in 48 states. The criteria includes the percentage of each state’s population with a commute of 20 minutes or more, unemployment, number of hours worked, population density, percentage of income spent on housing, and percentage of population without health insurance. Movoto derived its data from the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey for 2008-2012.
For Florida residents, unemployment and lack of health insurance contribute to high stress levels. According to Movoto, 25.8 percent of the state’s population lives without health insurance, with 11.3 percent also unemployed.
