Outkast takes the stage at NYC Governors Ball, Andre's clothes have fans talking

Is Andre 3000 sending subliminal messages through his outfits?

Andre 3000’s outfits get just as much—if not more—attention than his music. However, his latest accessory seems to be sending a rather confusing message to fans.

The rapper, born Andre Benjamin, is celebrating 20 years in the rap game with his Outkast bandmate Big Boi. The duo performed Saturday night at the Governors Ball in New York City.

Benjamin has been donning a series of custom statement jumpsuits as his recent shows. His jumpsuit asked the question, “Art or Fart?” at the Governors Ball. At BottleRock, the jumpsuit read, “I’ve never had f@cebook, twitt@r, or inst@gram”

Another accessory that’s got everyone talking is the giant red price tag attached to Andre’s waist. The price tag said “Sold Out” on one side and contained a $ sign on the other at his previous shows. At Governors Ball, however, the tag simply said, “Sold”.

Some are questioning the meaning behind it: does he believe this reunion equates to selling out? Is he simply bragging about the string of sold out shows?

Before the Coachella music festival, the duo had not performed together since the 2004 Gammys. Their first show together again did not go without a few mishaps. Fans complained of audio and visual glitches during several songs. During the first half of “Hey Ya,” Andre performed with his back to the audience. Before they could bring out Killer Mike for a final cameo, the Coachella organizers cut off their sound due to curfew.

Still, they are making their way to venues to see Outkast. There are reports saying the group stands stand to bank about $60 million on this summer tour. They are scheduled to make more than 40 stops on this tour.
