Lupe Fiasco: Justin Bieber’s racial slurs will not be taken seriously

Rapper Lupe Fiasco has had enough with those making excuses to defend Justin Bieber's offensive remarks.

Celebrities are known for getting away with murder. They also get away with things like DUIs and racism. Remember when Paris Hilton spent a millisecond behind bars and how Lindsay Lohan is free to roam the earth? Lupe Fiasco fears that will be the case when it comes to Justin Bieber and his racist remarks. No one thinks the pop start should do time for what he’s said, but Fiasco is scared Bieber will get off easier than he should.

When it was just a video of the “Baby” singer saying a joke when he was 15-years-old that used the n-word a handful of times – that was forgivable to most. A majority would agree that at that age, the popstar likely didn’t know what he was talking about. Now with the video of Bieber “remixing” his hit “One Less Lonely Girl” to be “One Less Lonely N-word,” even the biggest Beliebers are a loss on how to defend him.

“Justin Bieber said it, it’s cool, and people are already coming to his defense. I don’t think anybody should be allowed to profit off racism. Donald Sterling made a billion dollars, he sold the team, and there was such an uproar about somebody who didn’t use the N-word at all, but then you have somebody who made a very racist joke about it – I wonder if Justin Bieber’s gonna get the same treatment as Donald Sterling? I don’t think he will… It’s an absurd thing – you get somebody who we ‘like’ who says it, and says it even more ‘racist-ier’ and we don’t bat an eyelash at it,” Fiasco told MTV.com.

The rapper isn’t wrong to be worried that Bieber will be let off the hook easily. While the videos were made years ago, they’re still offensive. What makes this controversy particularly odd is that Bieber has grown up traveling the world surrounded by diversity. You’d think he’d have a little more respect and insight than to use that kind of language.

Despite Fiasco’s stand on the issue, there are multiple artists who support the Biebs. Lil’ Wayne, 50 Cent and yup, even the popstar’s mentor Usher.
