Family Guy may have found a new target but she seems willing to play along. Singer Rihanna appeared at the CFDA Fashion Awards over the weekend to receive the Fashion Icon Award wearing a dress that instantly grabbed everyone’s attention. As the Huffington Post reported, Rihanna’s custom Adam Selman gown was nearly sheer, with only its coating of Swarovski crystals (over 200,000 of them) providing any coverage. The singer wore only small pink panties for underneath the dress but accessorized it with a slinky hat and pink fur stole.

On Tuesday, Family Guy’s TBS Twitter account posted a picture of the show’s portly lead character, Peter Griffin, wearing the instantly famous dress. The caption read, “That awkward moment when you and your bestie are wearing the same thing. #OneOfUsNeedsToChange.”

Rihanna responded to the picture by tweeting, “He gets it!” with a side by side comparison of the spoof image and an image of herself from the original event. She has since changed her Twitter profile picture to the Family Guy image. TBS Very Funny didn’t quite return the favor, using the Family Guy image as its profile picture instead of a picture of Rihanna.

The Family Guy television series is often known for its cutting, occasionally mocking humor at celebrities’ expenses. In this case, at least, the joke found an appreciative audience in its subject.
