The Rolling Stones return to the stage following the death of Mick Jagger's girlfriend, L'Wren Scott.
After halting their world tour in March following the death of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott, The Rolling Stones have returned to the stage. The band gave more than 20,000 fans in Oslo an energetic and well-received concert on Monday.
When Jagger addressed the packed room of fans in the Nordic city where the band made their premiere during a tour in 1965, he stated that he was happy to be performing again. The concert was the first in their European tour – Lisbon and Zurich are the next stops.
When Scott committed suicide in her Manhattan apartment in March, The Rolling Stones rescheduled concerts in Australia and New Zealand to October and November to allow Jagger time to properly mourn his girlfriend. The performer wrote on his website days after her death that he was struggling to understand “how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.”
“We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick.”
Jagger seems to have made peace with the tragedy, as reviews of the concert praise him for his performance, which consisted not only of singing but joking, dancing, running and pirouetting as well.
