Miley gets a restraining order after a fan attempts to make contact demanding she accept him, or he dies.
A crazed Miley Cyrus fan is in trouble after giving her a fatal ultimatum: accept him or, “he dies.”
The singer-actress obtained a temporary restraining order Friday against Devon Meek of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Los Angeles police detained the 24-year-old on May 16, outside a property he believed is owned by Cyrus. Court documents do not confirm if he was at the right property. Meek was placed in a psychiatric hospital, where he remains right now. He told authorities that he will continue trying to meet the “Wrecking Ball” singer even after he is released.
The man reportedly believes that the former “Hannah Montana” star is communicating with him through her hit songs. According to TMZ, Meek told police that he thinks Cyrus “adores” him, a possible reference to Cyrus’ hit “Adore You.” He also told police detectives that he should be shot in the head if he could not meet her. Meek was ordered to stay 100 yards from Cyrus.
Cyrus is the latest in a long list of stars who have been targeted by stalkers. Last month, Los Angeles police re-arrested a man ordered to stay away from fellow Disney star Selena Gomez. Police arrested 20-year-old Che Cruz in March on tresspassing charges. Jail records show his arrest near Gomez’s home came just eight hours after being released. Gwyneth Paltrow was also granted a restraining order last month. E! News reports that her stalker, Nickolaos Gavrilis, lied his way into her homes, both in London and in Los Angeles. He was also ordered to stay 100 yards from Paltrow.
There will be a hearing on June 16 to decide if the restraining order against Meek should be extended for three years.
