Hugh Jackman would love to see Wolverine join The Avengers

Jackman thinks his Wolverine character would work well in the Avengers film franchise.

During to a recent interview with IGN, Hugh Jackman revealed his personal ambitions for his now iconic character Wolverine. The character has been seen on screen in seven X-Men universe films, including the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“I would love to see [Wolverine] as part of The Avengers,” Jackman responded when asked who his dream film crew would be. “Because there’s a great dysfunction among that team, and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He’d like that.”

The Avengers includes members such as Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, but to Jackman there is one obvious match-up for Wolverine. “There’s no doubt he’d get in a fight with Hulk at some point,” Jackman said. “Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point. It would be quite fun.”

While Wolverine has in fact interacted with the Avengers in written comics, bringing those dynamics to screen faces a few roadblocks, namely copyright and other legal issues. The Avengers movies are produced by Marvel/Disney while X-Men comes from Twentieth Century Fox Studios. Bringing the two universes together on film may be a superhuman job, but apparently Jackman’s Wolverine is volunteering for the task.
