The actress is excited to offer a family-friendly film.
Angelina Jolie is on the promotions trail in support for her new movie Maleficent. The film retells Disney’s version of Sleeping Beauty from the eponymous villain’s viewpoint. The actress’s daughter Vivienne has a small role in the film as young Aurora, an assignment that came basically by default.
Jolie, 38, spoke exclusively to the U.K.’s MailOnline on Monday, explaining, “Other children her age would be scared of me because I looked quite scary in [costume]. I was shocked by how well she did.”
Still, Jolie said, “Neither one of us want our children to be actors,” referring to her fiancée Brad Pitt, with whom she shares three daughters and three sons. The couple met while filming 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Jolie has been in multiple films, including her Oscar-winning role in 1999’s Girl, Interrupted, but confessed, “I didn’t realize how many films I made that my kids can’t see until I did this!” Jolie says she is excited to have made a movie her children can enjoy, revealing, “It’s been so much fun to have something like this coming out when the kids are so excited and come see it.”
Maleficent opens on May 30.
