Mother accused of choking daughter's alleged bully in front of classmates

The woman has been released on bail.

What should you do when your child is bullied? One mother decided that her best course of action was to attack her daughter’s alleged bully.

According to a report from the Los Angeles TimesDelia Garcia-Bratcher was arrested Friday on suspicion of choking a boy in front of his classmates at Olivet Elementary School.

However, officials said that they haven’t been able to find any evidence that this 11-year-old boy actually bullied the woman’s daughter.

“We are unable to determine if any bullying ever occurred,” Sonoma County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Brown said, according to The Associated Press. “We don’t know if this kid bullied this girl at all. It looks like he did not. We can’t find anybody to say that he did.”

Garcia-Bratcher reportedly entered the school and asked her son to identify her daughter’s alleged bully. After the boy was identified, the woman grabbed him by throat and threatened him.

The woman has been released on bail. For the time being, the Sonoma County district attorney’s office has not filed criminal charges against the mother.

Was this an appropriate reaction? Should the mother be charged and, if so, what should she be charged with? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
