Obama will visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on Thursday.
President Barack Obama surprised a group of Little League baseball players on Monday when he made a surprise stop to chat and take photos as they warmed up before their game, The Washington Post reports.
The president was on his way to a fundraiser when he showed up announced at Friendship Park in Northwest Washington. It was a quick visit, but the president still had time for a photo or two. “I don’t want to break up the game,” Obama said, according to the newspaper. “Let’s get a picture quick.”
According to ABC News radio, the unplanned stop wasn’t without reason. Della Carney, the daughter of White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, is one of the players on the team.
The president may have also been brushing up on his baseball knowledge. Syracuse.com says that Obama will become the first sitting president to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on Thursday.
