The two will exchange vows in the city where their daughter was reportedly conceived
Turns out America’s sweethearts Kim Kardashian and Kanye West won’t be getting married at Versailles after all. Instead, the mayor of Florence, Italy (!) has an announcement: The two will enter matrimonial bliss at the 16th century Belvedere Fort on May 24. The couple rented the space for the bargain-basement price of just $410,000.
According to spokesperson Elisa Di Lupo, the ceremony will feature a “Protestant minister,” though the exact denomination (if there is one) is unclear. The fort, built by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de’ Medici during the period 1590–1595, with Bernardo Buontalenti as the designer, served as a garrison for troops as it defended the city for 100+ years after its completion.
The Kardashians have had little to say about the impending nuptials. Instead, most of the wedding details have been gleaned from an interview West gave to Florence’s La Nazione newspaper on Friday. He said he’s “very excited” about exchanging vows on May 24. To him, he says, Florence is the mot beautiful city in all of Europe.
Adding in a touch of his now-famous class and sophistication, West also mentioned that the couple’s daughter, North, was conceived in Florence, “among the Renaissance masterpieces.” No word yet on what that actually means.
For socialite, business mogul and reality TV star Kim Kardashian, fans are hoping the third time is the charm when it come’s to strutting down the aisle. She was married to producer Damon Thomas for three years, and famously spent 72 days married to LA Clippers forward Chris Humphries in 2011.
The marriage will be West’s first.
