Hotel fires employee who recorded Jay Z, Solange video

The employee was fired for "breaching the security policies of the hotel."

According to a report from The Associated Press, the Standard Hotel in New York City has fired the employee who recorded a surveillance video showing Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles attacking rapper Jay Z. According to the hotel, the employee was fired for “breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video.”

TMZ obtained the video, most likely from the recently terminated employee of the Standard Hotel, and posted it to their website on Monday. The now infamous video clearly shows Jay Z, Beyonce, Solange and a bodyguard entering an elevator. Shortly after, Solange starts attacking Jay Z. Eventually she’s restrained by the bodyguard. During the attack, Beyonce is seen standing quietly to the side.

Although it wasn’t clear what caused the scuffle at the time of the video’s posting, the New York Daily News is now reporting that Solange attacked Jay Z because he was getting too close to designer Rachel Roy at the Met Gala after-party.
