Justin Bieber responds to robbery allegation: 'Don't believe rumors'

The pop star disputes the alleged victim's version of events.

Pop singer Justin Bieber has taken to Twitter to defend himself amid robbery allegations.

CNN reports that the Los Angeles Police Department detectives were investigating an alleged robbery Monday night, according to a police statement issued Wednesday.

More specifically, the alleged event occurred “between an individual and Mr. Bieber near the batting cages” on Los Angeles’ west side.

Sgt. Paul McLaughlin told Los Angeles news station KTLA that the incident was over a woman’s cell phone.

TMZ claims to have spoke with the woman in question.

“The woman says Justin and his crew got into an altercation with some guys at the batting cage when J.B. noticed she was going for her cellphone to take pictures,” reports TMZ.

“She says Justin demanded to see her phone so he could erase any photos. She says she refused to fork over the phone so he then went into her purse and grabbed it.”

Bieber, 20, tweeted several responses Wednesday.

It is hard to defend myself and my privacy every moment of the day. Then to see rumors. The truth will set u [sic] free.”

In the tweet, he shares an image of a TMZ story with a headline that reads, “EXCLUSIVE: Justin Bieber Accuser Busted — By Bat Girl…”

His tweets continue, “I will continue to be the man my mother raised. I love people and I will try to be kind even when things are not fair. Don’t believe rumors.”

Off to have fun and smile with friends. I’m human. I feel. I hurt. But I got thick skin too. I can handle it. I love you,” concludes the young pop star.

Bieber was most recently spotted in Oklahoma City Tuesday, attending an NBA basketball game.
