The tweet has many suspecting that her next album will drop later this year.
Singer Adele posted a makeup-free selfie to Twitter in honor of her birthday Monday.
“Bye bye 25,” writes the Grammy winner, in the tweet. “See you again later in the year.”
Adele, 26, is known to use her albums to musically explore particular emotions, thoughts and years of her life. In 2008, she released 19 — named for the age at which she wrote the majority of the album’s songs.
In early 2011, Adele released 21, once again named for her age at the time of the songwriting process. The album sold more than 10 million copies and is certified Diamond.
Many Adele fans and music writers interpreted the singer’s tweet as a nod to an upcoming album, a musical revisit to her 25th year of life.
In addition, earlier this year her publicist Paul Moss confirmed that Adele will indeed release her next studio album in 2014.
Late last year, Billboard reported that Adele plans to work Paul Epworth for her third studio album. Epworth produced and co-wrote several tracks on 21, including the smash hit “Rolling in the Deep.”
OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder confirmed to Radio.com in late March that he has been working with Adele on her follow-up to 21. Tedder helped pen her Grammy-winning song “Set Fire to the Rain.”
Adele took a short, unofficial break from music following the birth of her son, Angelo, in October 2012.
