Texas boy makes 'bucket list' of things to see before he goes blind

The family has not set up a donation page, but others have set up two on their behalf.

Ben Pierce is a 9-year-old boy from Texas and, soon, he will be blind.  My Fox 8 reports that Ben had to have surgery on his eye that left some scar tissue behind.  As he grows, the scar tissue will not stretch and his eyesight will worsen until he goes blind.  Though Ben is emotionally rocked by the knowledge that he will lose his eyesight, he has responded by making a “bucket list” of all the things he wants to see while he still can.

Ben’s mother has blogged about his wish list, identifying all the things he wants to do, what they have already seen, and some of the things that she has already told him are not really possible.  Ben sometimes asks to see things online, looking at a photo in lieu of seeing something in person.  His list of things to see includes a variety of local and global destinations.  Some of his bigger items are a video game factory in Japan and the Harry Potter Studios in England.

The family has not set up a donation page, but others have set up two on their behalf at GiveForward.com, which has already raised nearly $20,000, and InspireMore.com, which has raised nearly $4,000.  With these funds, the family may be able to take Ben to see his bucket list, but with five brothers and sisters, it is always an expensive trip.

Ben’s family is doing everything they can, visiting local sites and drivable destinations whenever possible.  They are also accepting post cards from people around the world, since Ben enjoys looking at all of these destinations.  Post cards can be sent to: Ben’s Wish List, c/o Hobby-Q, PO Box 2107, Lake Dallas, TX 75065-2107.
