Affleck gets banned.
Who would have thought that Jennifer Garner’s husband, Ben Affleck was a math whiz? During a recent trip to Las Vegas, Affleck found himself banned from playing blackjack at the Hard Rock. It is speculated that he was caught counting cards. Although this does not sound like an offense, and is not illegal, card counting is definitely frowned upon in Nevada’s casinos.
Counting cards is a tactic used to determine whether the next hand is likely to give a probable advantage to the player or to the dealer. Basically, when someone is counting cards it simply means that they are keeping count of them. This can be done by using a device or simply doing the math in your head. Using a device is illegal, but if you are good at numbers and do it in your head is that just as bad? His math teachers must be proud.
Affleck was in Vegas earlier this week with his wife in what is presumed to be a romantic getaway before he goes to Detroit to film his new movie, Superman vs. Batman. It is unknown whether or not she was with him when he was approached by security guards at the casino for being “too good” at the game. No casino likes to lose money, on the contrary they are supposed to be making money from the people playing. In this case, it seems like the Hard Rock has had enough of Affleck. There are reports that in 2001 he won $800,000 playing the same game at the same hotel. He also went to rehab for alcohol and gambling that year.
Sources say that management arranged for a car to take Affleck and Garner back to their hotel and although he is banned from the blackjack table for life, he is not banned from the casino.
Game over, Ben.
