Is Bieber getting deported?

In the wake of reports that Justin Bieber had been arrested for drunk driving, drag racing, and driving without a license, many people were quick to point out that the pop star isn’t actually a citizen of U.S. Bieber is currently working in the U.S. on a green card and proponents of fair punishment are rooting for his deportation back to Canada. So much so in fact, that an official deport Justin Bieber petition was created.

The petition falls under Obamas “We the People” project and it needs 100,000 signatures to reach the government and get a response on the topic. The project is in support of our first amendment, giving the people an opportunity to petition the government to take action. As of this morning there are over 62,000 signatures on the petition and it won’t reach its closing deadline until February 22nd, so an answer from someone in White House is likely on the horizon.

The official petition reads:

“We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture… We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people, but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”

Celebrities have a notoriously easy time with the law and there is concern that the 19-year-old Bieber won’t be rightly awarded a punishment. Bieber in trouble is not an isolated incident either, he has been at odds with his neighbors overly his reportedly disruptive behavior including drag racing in the neighborhood, egging a neighbor’s house, and spitting in someone’s face. At the time of the arrest in Miami the underage star admitted to use of alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drugs.

The petition for Bieber’s deportation is quickly gaining traction. Meanwhile the singer has reportedly taken to Panama for some ATV riding on the beach.
