Walter White's criminal lawyer will have the assistance of his private investigator in the new "Breaking Bad" spin-off.
Jonathan Banks, who played a series regular on “Breaking Bad,” is joining the cast of the hit show’s prequel “Better Call Saul,” reports Deadline.com.
Banks is reprising his role as Michael “Mike” Ehrmantraut, the private investigator of Saul Goodman, the protagonist of “Better Call Saul” played by Bob Odenkirk.
Banks starred as Mike for two and a half seasons on the Golden Globe-winning “Breaking Bad,” after making his first appearance in the season two finale.
His character, Mike, a former Philadelphia police officer, later went on to head corporate security at Los Pollos Hermanos, as well as act as a henchman for Gustavo Fring’s meth operation.
The new show will follow the evolution of Saul before he was Walt Whitman’s lawyer.
Both Bryan Cranston, who portrayed Walter White, and Aaron Paul, who played Jesse on “Breaking Bad,” have expressed interest in joining the cast of “Better Call Saul.”
In 2013, Banks was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the AMC hit.
“Better Call Saul,” created by “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan and “Breaking Bad” writer and producer Peter Gould, will premiere on AMC in November.
