Supermodel Heidi Klum is calling it quits from her bodyguard boyfriend, after being together for almost a year and half.

TV Guide reports that Heidi Klum is back on the market and that the pair has “severed ties professionally due to complications that could arise from working together.” Eek! Out of a relationship and a job!

The couple got together just two months after Heidi split from her superstar singer husband, Seal. Seven years together and a proposal at the top of a mountain by helicopter couldn’t sustain the marriage between the “Project Runway” princess and the “Kissed by a Rose” crooner.

40-year-old German supermodel Heidi Klum first publicly announced her relationship with her bodyguard on Katie Couric’s talk show, back in 2012, according to Contactmusic. Martin Kirsten had worked for Klum for four years before anything romantic occurred between the two. Klum told Couric on her show, “He’s been with our family the last four years…He’s cared for our entire family, mostly for our children, helped us tremendously.” She went on, “I trust him with my children’s life. He’s also a great man…and we just got to know each other from a completely different side.”

Klum began her relationship with Martin Kirsten during a very difficult time in her life, just after she had ended things with her husband. A friend close to Klum told People magazine, “Martin was there for her during a challenging time in her life and it was something she will always be grateful for.”

The reason for the break up is yet to be revealed, but given the timing and the circumstances of their relationship, perhaps they were just better for each other at the time, than on a permanent basis.

A source close to Klum shares in People: “Life is about timing. He was incredibly supportive and they were there for each other, but they’re moving on now.”

Klum is continuing to host her co-creation “Project Runway” along with “America’s Got Talent.”

As for Kirsten, he’ll just have to find another gorgeous supermodel to risk his life for.
