Report: Grammy tribute misspells Cory Monteith’s name

'Glee' actor Cory Monteith's last name was misspelled in a tribute video during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards last night.

A rather glaring issue came up during the tribute section of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards last night.  According to PerezHilton.com, the person in charge of the video made in memoriam of the stars lost in 2013 misspelled Glee actor Cory Monteith’s name.  The “i” and “e” were inexplicably switched, thus making a mistake that could have easily been avoided with a spell check or quick revision.

According to USA Today, the words “Cory Montieth, Glee actor, singer” appeared along with a photo of the late Final Destination 3 actor.  Many fans took to Twitter to express their outrage.

“Dear Recording Academy, it’s 2014 & no one has spell check?  His name is Cory MONTEITH!!!  Fire the fact check clerk,” a fan posted to Twitter.

“They misspelled Cory Monteith’s last name,” another fan tweeted.  “Proofreading is a lost art.  And in this case, a loss of respect too.  #GRAMMYs.”

Yet another tweet read, “GREAT JOB SPELLING CORY’S NAME WRONG IN HIS TRIBUTE LAST NIGHT. #youshouldbeashamed”

Cory Monteith passed away in July 2013 of an apparent alcohol and heroin overdose at the age of 31.  His character Finn’s will reportedly be revisited again in Glee‘s upcoming 100th episode, according to Us Weekly.  “I don’t think it could go much farther without continuing to talk about how that hurts,” Glee director Paris Barclay told Us Weekly at the 66th Annual Directors Guild Awards.  “There is so much feeling there and it affected the Glee family in such a profound way, and you can expect it to be dealt with in the 100th episode. It definitely comes back and is dealt with in a significant way.”

Glee‘s 100th episode will air on FOX in April, and feature a large part of the original cast, including Monteith’s girlfriend, Lea Michele.  It will be a two-part episode, and feature guest stars Kristen Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow.
