Sources have confirmed that the three performers, who are all scheduled to perform at the Grammys, will in fact perform together.
Amid swirling rumors of Grammy Awards performance match-ups, sources to US Weekly confirm that singer Madonna will perform with rapper Macklemore and his producer, Ryan Lewis.
Macklemore, born Ben Haggerty, 30, and Ryan Lewis, 25, will perform the duo’s 2013 hit song “Same Love” with Madonna, 55 on the Grammy Awards stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
“Same Love” — an anthem for gay and LGBT rights — is nominated for song of the year. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis garnered seven Grammy nominations total, including best new artist and album of the year for “The Heist.”
In November, Macklemore swept the rap category at the American Music Awards, winning favorite rap/hip-hop artist and favorite rap/hip-hop album.
Madonna, who is not nominated for any Grammy awards this year, is no stranger to supporting gay rights and marriage equality. In March, Madonna performed at the 2013 GLAAD Awards dressed as a boy scout to protest the organization’s position on homosexual scout leaders.
In a Jan. 24 post to Instagram, the Material Girl posted a photo of her mouth baring gold teeth, covered in a black veil. The photo is accompanied by a cryptic message regarding her upcoming Grammy performance. “My lips are sealed,” she captioned the image. “I can’t say anything more.”
The Grammy Awards airs Sunday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
