An unbelievably star-studded event
If Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performing together for the first time in four years wasn’t enough, now we’ve got Madonna!
The Queen Madge herself has confirmed that she will be performing this Sunday eve, on what is known as the “Biggest Night in Music.” The electronic producers of Daft Punk and Aussie chart-topper Lorde are all set to perform at Sunday night’s 56th annual Grammy Awards.
“Music’s Biggest Night” will have a star-studded array of musical talents, including an ensemble made up of Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers. What more could you ask for?!
According to The Wall Street Journal, this will be Daft Punk’s first live gig since the release of their Grammy-nominated album, “Random Access Memories,” which features Mr. Rodgers. This year also marks Daft Punk’s first TV performance since the 2008 awards when they played with Kanye West. Time flies, huh? Pharrell Williams, who appeared on Daft Punk’s gargantuan summer hit “Get Lucky” is nominated for seven awards, tying second with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Kendrick Lamar.
This year, Jay Z dominates the competition with a total of nine nominations.
A surprising entry into the pop music scene came from a 16-year-old girl from Down Under, newcomer superstar Lorde. She is nominated for four awards, including song of the year for her hit “Royals.” It’s been rumored that she might throw on an ensemble of Siberian bear-hunting armor as her performance garb. You never know what to expect at the Grammy’s.
Another huge, surprising performance/ultimate crowd-pleaser comes from husband and wife power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé taking the stage. While the Recording Academy hasn’t confirmed that the couple will perform together, both Mr. and Mrs. Carter have been mentioned in promos for the show.
If that’s not enough, Imagine Dragons of “Radioactive” and “Demons” über success will be performing, along with John Legend, Hunter Hayes, and pop princess Katy Perry. Taylor Swift, Pink and Nate Ruess, Sara Bareilles and Carole King and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will take the stage.
In tribute, Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day will be performing with Miranda Lambert, honoring the late singer Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers.
Two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J will return as the host of the ceremony which will air on CBS on Sunday, Jan 26, 2014 at 8p.m. ET. On the Red Carpet reports that LL has hosted every show since 2012, so expect a host with the most!
