The Tweets of Shia return
Shia LaBeouf has been at the center of several swirling controversies lately, and many, by his own handle.
The most recent upset came after he posted a remark aimed at comedian Jim Carrey, who upon presenting “American Hustle” as a nominee for best motion picture in the comedy and musical genres at the Golden Globes, stated, “Dying is easy, comedy is hard.” He then quipped, “I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that. So young, so wise.”
The veteran comedian was referring to the plagiarism scandal that has prompted Shia to announce that he is leaving showbiz, despite being attached to several major upcoming productions.
The young actor responded by aiming a sharply critical Tweet at Jim Carrey saying, “At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child’s.” He then quickly retracted his statement, making an apology tweet, saying, “Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter’s life – I accept that, regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents.”
This is all happening just days after Shia very publicly retired from all public life, going on Twitter to say, “In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life.” He even went so far as to spend $25,000 hiring a skywriter to write “#stopcreating” over Los Angeles, this past Friday. Just today, the “Transformers” actor took to Twitter to proclaim, “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE.” Doesn’t seem like he’s cooling his heels anytime soon. The whole point of a retirement is to retire from whatever you were doing.
The recent behavior displayed by the 27-year-old star is disturbing and upsetting, to say the least. “Girls” star and creator, Lena Dunham, went so far as to label him a “sociopath.” It is concerning to see such a bright, talented young man teetering off the rails in such a blatant, very public way.
Shia began his most recent tweeting rampage with: “If you explain @JimCarrey you’ve killed him, Nobody knows if it’s for real or not. That way he’s immortal.”
Some explanation for Shia’s bizarre behavior would be more than welcome. His various methods of self-sabotage and delusional behavior are perhaps indicative of a larger problem. Despite his retirement from public life, Shia has remained well in sight.
