Mark Wahlberg wants to ‘beat the crap’ out of One Direction over daughters’ crush

The movie star jokes with Conan O'Brien about his role as a father of growing girls.

Actor Mark Wahlberg, 42, discussed his two daughters’ obsession with popular music act One Direction during a Jan. 9 appearance on “Conan” starring Conan O’Brien, according to MTV.com.

One Direction is monopolizing his young daughters’ affection, and the former model, now A-list actor is having none of it. Harry Styles, a member of One Direction who is rumored to be dating Kendall Jenner of the Kardashian clan, drew most of his ire.

“Now the girls have turned to One Direction, and, it’s like they don’t care about dad anymore,” he told O’Brien on the show. “My four-year-old is going ‘Daddy, I like Harry.’ And I’m like ‘Well, I’m going to punch Harry in the nose when I see him.'”

“She pulls out pictures of him and she’s hiding pictures in the room, and I pretend that I’m going to rip them up and I get jealous,” Wahlberg added.

“But if I see that little prick, he’s gonna get it,” he joked.

While his annoyance may be real, his intention toward violence is clearly not.

The actor was on the late night show promoting his upcoming movie “Transformers: Age of Extinction” directed by Michael Bay. He jokingly planned to use his appearance in the film to lure One Direction to an untimely fate.

“I could say ‘Hey, I really want to meet One Direction, I’m a big fan.’ Invite them to the Transformers’ premiere, [tell them] ‘Maybe you can do the title track,” Wahlberg told O’Brien. “And then I’m going to beat the crap out of them at the video shoot. Probably all five of them.”

By the end of interview, the actor realized the possible positive impact of allowing his daughters to meet One Direction now, rather than later.

“”You know what? I am going to try to get my daughters to meet them; I’d rather do it now,” he explains. “My oldest is 10, she’s into them as well, and that would be the only time I’ll ever introduce them to a boy.”

Wahlberg, a Boston native, had previously performed as Marky Mark in the rap group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the early ’90s. Their single “Good Vibrations” hit number one on the Billboard charts. He went on to model underwear for Calvin Klein before breaking into film with Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Boogie Nights” in 1997.
