A video on Instagram in which Jennifer Hudson presents her good friend and assistant, Walter Williams, with the deed to a new home has garnered more than 18,000 “likes” at press time.

In the video, Williams jumps ecstatically, hugging Hudson after receiving the generous gift. The Oscar-winning actress captioned the video, “My assistant Walter’s reaction when he found out I was buying him a house for Christmas!”

Hudson, 32, grew up in Chicago, where she met Williams in the sixth grade. They’ve been friends ever since, according to Reuters.

The actress entered the public spotlight as a contestant on the popular reality television series, “American Idol.” Her debut album won a Grammy, and she later received an Academy Award for her performance in  2006’s “Dreamgirls.”

Where the newly purchased gift home is located is not yet known.
