The 41-year-old dedicates a section of her book, which aims to help women love their bodies, to explain why she thinks it is important for ladies to keep their vaginas "fully dressed."
Cameron Diaz has some advice for women: You don’t need to succumb to ever fad.
The famed actress is remarkable candid and revealing in her new book The Body Book, including dedicating an entire chapter dedicated to the subject of pubic hair.
“It’s a personal decision, but I’m just putting it out there: Consider leaving your vagina fully dressed, ladies. Let’s be honest: Just like every other part of your body, your labia major is not immune to gravity,” writes Diaz. “I know you may think you’ll be wearing the same style of shoes forever and the same style of jeans forever, but you won’t. The idea that vaginas are preferable in a hairless state is a pretty recent phenomenon. All fads change, people.”
The issue seems to have pervaded society. In fact, doctors in the U.S. and Australia have seen a dramatic decline in the number of people affected by pubic lice in the past decade since the style of grooming known as a Brazilian wax has gained popularity.
Diaz also dedicated portions of her book to acne and her appearance. The film star said she battled acne for years, saying she tried every possible solution. The actress confessed frustration over combating acne, saying she often felt angry with her own body and its reactions to various medications. In the end, Cameron said a combination of changes led to her skin clearing up, adding that she eventually rejected medications aimed at eliminating her acne. Cameron attributed the clear up to a cleaner, healthier diet.
This is not the first time Diaz has used her platform to advocate against laser hair removal. Speaking in 2013, the actress, while appearing on Britain’s “Graham Norton Show,” mentioned about a friend who “is obsesed with having ’70s bush.” The press eventually settled on Gwyneth Paltrow as the most likely candidate.
According to the publisher’s website, The Body Book “offers a holistic, long-term approach to making consistent choices and reaching the ultimate goal: a long, strong, happy, healthy life.”
