Looking for a hangover cure after having one too many? Now you have another option in the form of a hangover prevention pill set to be released on New Year’s Eve.

Mercy Nutraceuticals announced in a release that it will launch a chewable hangover prevention pill that can counter the negative effects of three to five alcoholic beverages.

The hangover prevention tablets are each 5 calories, come in a citrus-flavored tablet with 2 tablets per pack and cost approximately $2.75 per pack.

How does the hangover prevention pill work?

The company says that the tablets work by encouraging the body to produce glutathione. Glutathione is an antioxidant known to neutralize free radicals. One study titled, Glutathione metabolism and its implications for health, found that that the substance, “plays important roles in antioxidant defense, nutrient metabolism, and regulation of cellular events.”

David Racicot, Ceo of Mercy Nutraceuticals expressed excitement at the impending hangover pill release, saying, “The compact and convenient nature of the tablet will make Mercy more accessible to people who demand products with observable benefits.”

The company claims that subjects experienced a 73% improvement in common physical hangover symptoms after using the product, and citing the preliminary findings of a double-blind clinical pilot study carried out by Medicus Research.

The company says the hangover prevention tablets will be available at grocery stores, hotels and bars in New York City, New Jersey, Florida and online.
