One Direction sends personal video message to Claire Davis, a victim of the recent Colorado shooting.
It started with a Tweet, one that kicked off an internet campaign to connect One Direction with Colo. school shooting victim Claire Davis using the hashtag #Get1DtoClaire. It’s been said that she’s a fan of the group.
After days of gaining momentum on the social networks, frequently appearing in Twitter’s trending topic area, and hundreds of thousands of retweets and sharing, One Direction came through by delivering a personal video message to the young victim of a senseless tragedy.
“Hi Claire, we’ve heard you’re a big fan,” Liam Payne of One Direction says in the video message. “We just wanted to show you some love. What’s happened to you was absolutely terrible. So we–we, we can’t bear thinking about it, so we just wanted to share some love with you, all our prayers are with you and your family. Hope you get well soon, lots of love.”
The short video clip shows One Direction members, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik all standing side-by-side as Liam Payne delivers the message. At the end, Tomlinson blows her a kiss.
Claire Davis, 17, remains in critical condition, in a coma less than a week after classmate Karl Pierson shot her at point blank range when she encountered him on his way to shoot a librarian at Arapahoe High School in Littleton Colo.
CNN reports that One Direction sent the video message directly to Claire Davis’ family, intending it to be private, but that the boyfriend uploaded it to YouTube.
Earlier this week, the parents of the gunman issued a statement saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Claire Davis and her family. They, and she, have suffered unimaginably, and we pray for her full recovery,” the Piersons said. “We also pray for the entire Arapahoe High School community, as we know your lives are forever changed by this horrific event.”
