Singer Miley Cyrus hosts a birthday bash featuring celebrities and strippers following the American Music Awards at L.A.'s Roosevelt Hotel.
Singer/actress/twerker Miley Cyrus turned 21 over the weekend, a day of revelry capped off with a party after the American Music Awards. The event was held at in Beacher’s Madhouse in L.A.’s Roosevelt Hotel, which Cyrus rented out for the birthday/AMAs afterparty. Miley’s party was typical of most newly-minted legal drinkers’, featuring the standard accompaniment of alcohol, strippers, edible nude self-effigies, celebrities and someone dressed as Dr. Seuss’ Lorax character. Cyrus’ actual birthday was on Saturday the 23rd, but in showing the restraint for which she is now famous, festivities were postponed until Sunday.
According to TMZ, Kelly Osborne was among the guests, as were One Direction members Niall Horan and Liam Payne. Among the older attendees was the Lorax, though it’s unclear who was behind the mask or who was left to guard the trees in his or her stead. The party likely came as a welcome reprieve after Cyrus’ house was burglarized Friday. Though there are no reports of what exactly was stolen, the L.A. police department told reporters that property was indeed missing after the break in.
Scrutiny has followed the “Wrecking Ball” singer for much of 2013, a year in which Cyrus debuted a radical makeover, drew criticism for her VMA performance, ended her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, and, perhaps most tragically, bleached her eyebrows. Love her or hate her, Miley’s penchant for the spotlight is working: Cyrus is one of only three female solo artists to have an album sell more than 150,000 copies in its first week, with October’s “Bangerz” selling 270,000. “We Can’t Stop,” the album’s debut single, has recorded over 287 million views on Youtube.
As of Sunday, Cyrus’ eyebrows are back to their natural color (brown).
Update: TMZ reports that over $100k worth of property was stolen in Friday’s burglary
