Best Buy kicks off Black Friday.
Best Buy is joining the crowd, announcing plans to move it’s Black Friday sale up to Thanksgiving.
The store announced this week plans to open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, aligning itself with a growing trend to open stores on Thanksgiving rather than on Black Friday.
In a statement released through it’s website, the company explained the decision.
“Experienced deal shoppers know: There’s no place like Best Buy for incredible Black Friday savings — and the Best Buy deals for Black Friday 2013 will blow you away,” read the statement. “Our Black Friday 2013 sales event on November 29 will offer you an amazing list of products on sale, both in Best Buy stores and at BestBuy.com. You’ll find outstanding prices and doorbusters on select products, so don’t miss out — mark your calendar now for our Black Friday 2013 event.”
“On November 29, you’ll find special Black Friday deals and doorbusters on select laptops, HDTVs, Blu-ray players, appliances, digital cameras, video games and much more,” it continued.
On Thursday, Old Navy announced it will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and will reopen at 7 p.m. that evening and stay open through Black Friday. Wal-Mart and other major chain stores have announced similar moves in the past, part of a move to gain an advantage on the competition. Speaking Friday, Best Buy said the move grew from a similar place.
“So whether you’re looking to buy the perfect holiday gift or birthday present, commemorate another special occasion, or just pick up something special for yourself and your family, our Black Friday 2013 selection and savings will help you find the perfect product at an outstanding price,” said Best Buy officials. “You’ll find Black Friday 2013 savings and doorbusters on November 29 at BestBuy.com and in all of our Best Buy stores. Shop from the comfort of home, or visit Best Buy in person to get the Black Friday deals and doorbusters you have your eye on.”
