Country music star Taylor Swift was back to doing good deeds on Saturday, as she opened the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, The Associated Press reports. Then on Sunday, Swift will once again be recognized for her musical abilities, as she accepts her sixth songwriter-artist of the year award from Nashville Songwriters Association International.

“I’m really excited about this music education center and the fact that right now they have three different classes going on today,” Swift told The AP. “It’s really exciting that we can be here on a day when they’re not only unveiling it, but they’re starting to actively use it today.”

Back in 2012, Swift donated $4 million of her own money to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for the creation of the Taylor Swift Education Center. The AP reported at the time that the $4 million was the biggest monetary gift donated to the museum by an artist and the second biggest from an individual.

“In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now,” Kyle Young, museum director, told The AP. “It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who’s in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking.”

Taylorswift.com notes that the Taylor Swift Education Center features three classrooms, a learning lab and a state-of-the-art children’s exhibit gallery. The website adds that the classrooms are open now and that the gallery space will open in March 2014.
