A company is interested in her invention.

15-year-old Ann Makosinski’s body-heat-powered flashlight was one of four winning inventions in the annual Google Science Fair, CNET reports.

The Times Colonist reports that Makosinski was presented with a yellow Lego trophy at Monday’s awards gala for her victory in the 15-16 age category.

“I definitely think it will have an impact on my future,” the Canadian student said from California, according to the Times Colonist.

“My objective in my project was to create a flashlight that runs solely on the heat of the human hand. Using four Peltier tiles and the temperature difference between the palm of the hand and ambient air, I designed a flashlight that provides bright light without batteries or moving parts,” Makosinski said in a description of her invention on the Google Science Fair’s website. “My design is ergonomic, thermodynamically efficient, and only needs a five degree temperature difference to work and produce up to 5.4 mW at 5 foot candles of brightness.”

The Times Colonist adds that a company is interested in her invention, but that the 15-year-old isn’t at liberty to talk about it.

17-year-old Eric Chen of San Diego was awarded the grand prize of a $50,000 scholarship for his anti-flu research. According to CNET, Chen turned to computer modeling to determine novel techniques to advance the finding of flu inhibitors ahead of future flu outbreaks.

14-year-old Viney Kumar also won an award for his work on a signalling system for emergency vehicles. And, according to NBC News, 16-year-old Elif Bilgin earned the voter’s choice award for his work on an invention that utilizes banana peels to create bioplastics for cosmetic prosthesis and insulation of cables.
