"Pray 4 them," tweeted Robert Zimmerman.
Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman, is filing for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years. George was thrust into the national spotlight when he was on trial for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. A Florida jury acquitted George of murder in July.
“I stood by my husband through everything and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I’m supposed to now assemble and make a life…It’s just heartbreaking,” Shellie said during an exclusive interview with ABC News on Friday.
Shellie sat down with ABC News on the same day that her divorce petition was made public.
“I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George,” she added. “I think I’m realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don’t think that I ever really knew him at all.”
According to The Washington Post, Shellie wants sole possession of the couple’s two dogs, Oso and Leroy.
Although George has yet to comment on the divorce petition, New York Magazine noted that his brother Robert tweeted the following: “Pray 4 them.”
