The couple have reportedly been together since 2011.
At least two of the members of the chart-topping boy band ‘N Sync are back in the news. Singer Lance Bass, who came out as gay in 2006, proposed to boyfriend Michael Turchin over the weekend. A source confirmed the engagement to PEOPLE.
Bass took to Twitter and Instagram to broadcast his big announcement: “He said YES!! Love this man,” Bass tweeted along with an Instagram of Turchin wearing his new black diamond band.
“They’re such a great couple, everyone is so happy for them,” a source told Us Weekly. “Their friends and family are thrilled.”
The couple have reportedly been together since 2011. The ‘N Sync star popped the question in New Orleans.
Bass and his bandmates recently performed at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, joining frontman Justin Timberlake for renditions of “Girlfriend” and “Bye Bye Bye.”
Perhaps indicating his desire to do something big for Turchin in the coming days, Bass tweeted the following message after his VMA performance: “For the first time ever I got to perform with ‘N Sync as an out entertainer and was thinking of this man.”
When Bass came out in 2006, he told PEOPLE that he had kept his sexual orientation a secret during his time with ‘N Sync because thought his announcement might “overpower everything” else that the band was doing.
Had Bass made his announcement when he was a member of ‘N Sync, would it have impacted their success? Sound off in the comments section.
