Only a few hours after suffering a seizure while in a rehab facility in Florida, “tan mom” Patricia Krentcil was released and admitted back into the rehab, according to the Daily Mail.
TMZ reports that “tan mom was originally supposed to stay in the hospital for several days, but after just five hours, we’re told doctors said she was in good enough condition to leave.”
The 45-year-old mother reportedly had a seizure early Saturday morning, but after five hours of medical observation doctors allowed her to leave the hospital. TMZ had originally reported that it was believed the New Jersey native would have to remain hospitalized in Palm Beach for up to a week. The seizing episode is thought to be a reaction to the detoxing process at the rehab facility.
Krentcil has since returned to the Lukens Institute, where she is undergoing treatment for alcoholism. She entered the facility after she was found drunk at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport and was arrested by airport police between flights.
Airport police had placed her in airport detox for 30 hours, but after careful consideration it was decided she would benefit from long-term support for her substance abuse problem.
It has been reported that Krentcil chose the Lukens Institute because of its endorsement by Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan. Krentcil attended high school with Michael and remembered hearing him speak about the techniques the center used, as well as their success record.
The recent airport incident is not the first time Patricia Krentcil has been in trouble. She was escorted out of a New York nightclub last August for being too intoxicated.
Patricia lives in Nutley, New Jersey with her husband Richard. She quickly shot to fame after she was accused of taking her 5-year-old daughter, Anna, to tanning booths. Her addiction to tanning became a focal point in the media.
Patricia was charged with child endangerment after school officials noticed burns on Anna’s legs. Patricia maintained the burns were a result of playing outside and the charges were overturned eventually. However, her excessively tanned skin become more popular than the original story did.
During an interview last October, Patricia told Dr. Drew Pinsky, “I just like being tan. It’s natural. I don’t wear make-up so being tan with pink lipstick is what I did.”
