Now that James Gandolfini’s funeral is over and everyone has said their goodbyes, the only thing left to take care of is his estate, which is reportedly worth $70 million.

The former “Sopranos” star passed away on June 19 from a heart attack.  Gandolfini was vacationing in Rome at the time and was found in the bathroom floor by his 13-year-old son, Michael, who will receive the bulk of Gandolfini’s estate. Gandolfini’s family filed the will late Tuesday in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court, approximately one week after his funeral.

Despite being able to pull off one of the best characters in TV history as the volatile mobster Tony Soprano, Gandolfini was known as a loving, quiet guy by his family, friends and colleagues. Gandolfini’s last will and testament, which was signed in December of 2012, showed exactly how much he thought of everyone in his life.  While he left most of his estate to his kids, Gandolfini left money to many people he had a close relationship with.  Aside from immediate family, Gandolfini left money to his personal assistant, secretary, friends and godson.

While a young teenager getting the bulk of a $70 million estate sounds like a recipe for disaster, Michael won’t be able to get his hands on any money for a few years. After Gandolfini’s son turns 21, he will have access to the trust his dad set up for him, which will contain at least $7 million in cash.  Michael will have the option to purchase his dad’s Greenwich Street condo and will receive jewelry and clothes of his father’s.

Gandolfini’s 8-month-old daughter Liliana Ruth that was born this past December won’t receive as much as her big brother, but she will be a 50 percent owner along with her brother to her dad’s home in Italy when she turns 25.  His wife Deborah Lin didn’t receive any cash in the will, but will be provided for in a trust just like her children.

Gandolfini also made provisions for his children in the will as far as custody is concerned.  His sister will become custodian of any minor children in the event his wife perishes.  Considering the possibility of random relatives crawling out of the woodwork to get custody of his kids to have access to his money if both he and his wife pass, it is a good thing Gandolfini was thinking ahead.

When Gandolfini’s funeral was held last week, every one of his fellow cast members from “Sopranos” showed up, which shows just how much he was cared for, even though the show ended six years ago.
