Rowe will not seek custody of Paris Jackson.
As the speculation regarding Paris Jackson’s welfare continues in the aftermath of her attempted suicide last week, one of the most important issues concerns her guardianship.
On Monday, TMZ reported that there is a high probability that Debbie Rowe will take over guardianship of her biological 15-year-old daughter from Katherine Jackson if Paris voices that desire to the judge. A source recently told People magazine that Paris has been recently reconnecting with Rowe because “she wants a family, she’s missed her dad.”
However, a source close to the Jackson family told the New York Daily News that Rowe doesn’t want to take Paris’ grandmother’s guardianship rights away.
The source explained to the newspaper that “it would take Katherine dying or becoming very ill for Debbie to seek legal guardianship in court” and even if plans are made for Paris to live with her, Debbie would still want Katherine to remain a guardian. The family source also said that Rowe is prepared to take Paris in if the guardianship judge decides to terminate Katherine’s right to custody.
Additionally, the source points out that both Katherine and Rowe want to comply with the late pop singer’s will relating to the custody of his children.
“Katherine said she isn’t going to give up the role because she feels that would be letting Michael down, and Debbie has too much respect for Katherine and Michael’s wishes to fight her in court,” the source told the NY Daily News.
The source also denied reports that Paris freaked out over the weekend upon being transferred from West Hills Hospital to UCLA Medical Center, the same hospital where paramedics brought her father in 2009 before he was pronounced dead. A New York Post article claims that Paris was tricked into being brought to the Medical Center and when her family pulled up to the facility, she screamed, “Are you crazy? Are you crazy? Why would you bring me here?”
On this alleged incident, the source told the NY Daily News, “That doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t see it as the place where her dad died. The autopsy report makes it pretty clear Michael died at the house.”
Last Thursday, the day after Paris cut her wrist and overdosed on ibuprofen pills, the judge overseeing the custody of Michael Jackson’s children, ordered an investigation into Paris’ well-being. An investigator in the probate court has been told to prepare a written report that includes the status of Paris’ health, education and welfare.
