Leaked Windows Phone images reveal major changes for Microsoft’s mobile platform

What do you think of the changes to Microsoft's mobile platform?

Images from an eBay-purchased Windows Phone reveal several major changes for Microsoft’s mobile platform. A Reddit user posted a link to his Flickr account (which he later removed) of images from a Lumia 920 that came loaded with a pre-release version of the next big-time Windows Phone update, according to The Verge.

The most significant change to Microsoft’s mobile platform appears to be the addition of a notification center, Business Insider reports. However, a notification center isn’t the only change to the Windows Phone. The Verge points out that the leaked screenshots also show a redesigned calender interface.

Slashgear speculates that the images, which reportedly reveal a version of Windows Phone dated May 9, could be from a “misplaced test unit” that was used to test a pre-launch OS for Windows 8.1.

Slashgear also notes that in addition to a notification center and a redesigned calendar interface, the Windows Phone appears to have a new multitasking system with the capability to exit out of apps from the multitasking view.

The lack of a notification center has long been a problem with Microsoft’s mobile platform, according to Digital Trends. While Windows Phone 8 utilizes “toast notifications” to let the user know about missed calls or texts, the user has no way of storing these notifications without a proper notification center.
