Kim Kardashian revealed in recent weeks that her pregnancy has been less than ideal.  She has suffered lots of aches and pain and has generally been in a lot of discomfort for much of her pregnancy. Kardashian’s stepfather Bruce Jenner revealed that Kardashian has faced an additional hardship throughout the pregnancy–the absence of the dad-to-be, Kanye West.

During an interview with Extra! on Friday, Jenner said that he had only met West once and his son Brody Jenner said he had never met the rapper.

“He’s never … he’s not around. He was in Paris the whole time writing, and he just hasn’t been around,” Jenner said.  Even though both of the Jenner men say West isn’t around much, the younger Jenner said the family who has been around West likes him: “Kim says great things about him. And so does the entire family.”

Jenner has been notorious in the past for being extra hard on his stepdaughters’ boyfriend choices, so it is possible that he is exaggerating a little.  Kardashian’s sister Khloe said that West came to several ultrasound appointments to find out the gender of the baby, but ultimately missed finding out the gender in person because of the baby’s position.  Kardashian found out the sex at a later appointment when West was working in “London or Paris,” according to Khloe.  West was also a no-show for most of Kardashian’s baby shower, but sneaked in towards the end.

West has been busy working on the studio album he plans to release on June 18 called “Yeezus.” This is his first studio album since 2010 and even though he has been away during a lot of the pregnancy, it looks like he has timed the completion of the album almost perfectly, since his and Kardashian’s baby is due near the end of June.

In other Kardashian news, the gender of the baby was revealed during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” on Sunday night, and it’s a girl.  “I’m so excited we’re having a girl,” Kardashian said during the episode. “Who doesn’t want a girl? They’re the best and I know that’s really what Kanye has always wanted. He wanted a little girl.”

Keeping the gender under wraps hasn’t been an easy feat for Kardashian, especially considering how much attention she gets from the paparazzi.  In order to keep the gender a secret until the big reveal episode, Kardashian only purchased white baby clothes so anyone with a camera or paying close attention to her purchases wouldn’t be able to blow the whistle.
