Bynes continues to lash out on Twitter.
Over the weekend Amanda Bynes managed to add three more victims to to her lengthy list of Twitter rants–her father, RuPaul and People magazine.
According to TMZ, the 27-year-old actress followed-up on her post-arrest promise of getting a nose job by actually getting the procedure done in Manhattan on Saturday. While this in itself isn’t all that interesting, as celebrities seem to get plastic surgery as often as they breathe, it’s what the former Nickelodeon star said in her post-surgery announcement on her social networking account the following day that’s making headlines.
She tweeted, “My dad is as ugly as RuPaul! So thankful I look nothing like you both! I had nose surgery after my mug shots so my nose and I are gorgeous!”
While these insults were harsh, they were nothing compared to what she wrote about People magazine writers on Saturday in reference to the magazine’s media coverage on her.
That tweet read, “Um, @Peoplemag Hello? I’m not lost and alone! W H A T T H E F U C K A R E Y O U T A L K I N G A B O U T ? Follow me on twitter you faggots!” The tweet has since been deleted from Bynes’ account, however, it is likely that RuPaul saw the message prior to being victimized by the starlet himself.
The famous drag queen responded by tweeting, “Derogatory slurs are ALWAYS an outward projection of a person’s own poisonous self-loathing @AmandaBynes.”
The Huffington Post reports that RuPaul touched upon on the topic of slurs last year in an interview with HuffPost Gay Voices and Sirius XM’s OutQ, in which he explained that a so-called derogatory term can have different meanings depending on the attitude of the people or person saying them.
“[I]n the ACT UP age we called ourselves queers because we earned the right, we took the word back. But in reality, once you go even deeper, you know, you have to come from intent,” he said in the interview. “And black folks call themselves the n-word all the time. It’s because the intent is coming from a place of love. If the intent is coming from a place of hatred, that’s different.”
Based on RuPaul’s Twitter response to Bynes, the phrase “faggots” came from the latter intent.
Last weekend, Bynes also used offensive language against Rihanna in a series of tweets ranging from “you look so ugly tryin to be white” to “Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.” Bynes has since said these tweets were written by someone else and called Rihanna “a beauty.”
