After being criticized for her choice of maternity wear throughout her pregnancy, reality TV star Kim Kardashian had a wardrobe malfunction that resembled a Marilyn Monroe moment when her short dress flew up on Wednesday.

Kardashian was strolling along in Beverly Hills when a gust of wind caused her striped dress, which settled a few inches above her knees, to fly up.  The not-so-modest star wasn’t bothered at all by the wardrobe snafu.  As luck would have it, a photographer was nearby snapping photos and took pictures of the dress flare-up.  Instead of freaking out as some women would when after being partially exposed and caught on camera, Kardashian held the dress down and laughed about the incident.

As soon as the pictures went up, people began comparing the dress flare-up to the photo immortalized by Marilyn Monroe, and there has even been a lot of debate on who pulled off the look (although unintentional on Kardashian’s part) the best.  Monroe’s dress flared up in a scene in the 1955 flick “The Seven Year Itch” as she was standing over a subway grate.  The image of Monroe’s dress flaring up was so iconic that a 26-foot statue of it was erected in Chicago in 2011. Kardashian is certainly popular, but we won’t be seeing any statues or postage stamps of her dress snafu in the near future.

Kardashian has been criticized constantly throughout her pregnancy for wearing tight clothing and heels, among other things, such as flying in her third trimester.  At least this time her critics can’t complain about her dress being too tight or wearing high heels (she was wearing flats), since it was a flare-out style dress from her clothing line, which is available in Sears department stores.

In other Kardashian news, the whole world will find out the sex of Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby, which is rumored to be due sometime in June or early July, on June 2 during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”  According to sister Khloe, it took multiple ultrasound readings to determine the gender because of the position of the baby.  No matter what the sex is, one thing is almost certain–with the Kardashians’ tendency to stick with the letter “K” for names and the baby’s father’s name also starting with a “K,” the love child of the rapper and fashionista will almost certainly begin with the same letter.
