Rapper Kanye West has unveiled the cover for his upcoming album Yeezus and it’s extremely simple. To describe it in as few words as possible is an easy task: It looks like a clear CD case with a red piece of tape stuck to it with the album title written in black ink.
In fact, Kanye’s album cover is so simplistic that one may have trouble believing that this is his official album cover. “Forget everything else you have seen, this is the official artwork. No cover, booklet, just a sticker on the reverse of the package with the track list,” DJ Semtex wrote in a blog post.
MTV notes that the image of Kanye’s album cover includes the words: “Please add graffiti.” Perhaps Kanye wants his fans to create their own album artwork or maybe he’s on a strict budget and decided that less was more.
According to MTV, Kanye hasn’t been to talkative about Yeezus, though we know that the album’s release date in June 18. The rapper has, however, given us a taste of what’s on his upcoming album with debut performances on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” of “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves.”
In anticipation of the album’s release date, West also projected a new song and visual from Yeezus on 66 buildings worldwide. According to Billboard, West tweeted a link to his website the night of the projection, which had a map of the world with major cities all given specific locations and times in which the video would be projected.
