Hilton signs with Cash Money.
If your a fan of Paris Hilton’s music, you’re in luck.
The 32-year-old socialite will reportedly be releasing her second album with Cash Money Records, according to Billboard. The label, which is co-founded and operated by Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Birdman” Williams, has signed artists such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaji and Drake.
The former reality TV star first revealed the news on Sunday night during the Cannes Film Festival. She told Showbizz411 that her new album, which she hopes to release this summer, will be produced by ex-boyfriend Afrojack and will feature numerous hip hop acts including Lil Wayne. She said her fans shouldn’t expect a repeat of Paris, her 2006 debut album that was released in conjunction with on her own label Heiress Records and Warner Bros. Records.
“This is a lot different than my first album,” she told Roger Friedman of Showbiz411. “It’s really going to be house music.”
Hilton’s first album featured a mix of pop and hip-hop/R&B with singles such as “Stars Are Blind,” “Nothing In This World,” and “Turn It Up.” The album reached No. 6 on the Billboard charts and sold approximately 198,00 copies in the United States. Despite performing well on the music charts, Paris received mixed reviews.
Last year Afrojack told Billboard that he was giving to give Hilton dance songs to record for her new album, saying: “She’s been going out to raves for 15 years she told me – ever since she was a little kid – and she loves dance music so I gave her some dance tracks.”
Williams of Cash Money Records welcomed Hilton to the label Wednesday afternoon, tweeting, “Welcome @ParisHilton to tha Family. RichgangRichgirl. YMCMB.”
Despite both Hilton and Williams confirming the news, Hilton’s rep told the New York Daily News that the singer is talking with numerous record labels and nothing is set in stone yet. “When a deal is finalized we will make an official announcement,” the rep told the newspaper.
Hilton will soon be seen in “The Bling Ring,” making a cameo appearance in the film about a group of teenagers that broke into and robbed the homes of a handful of celebrities, including herself. The movie hits theaters June 14. According to Showbiz411, Hilton’s future projects will include launching another perfume and the Paris Hilton Foundation, which will support children’s causes.
