Country music’s biggest stars are gearing up to attend the 2013 CMT Music Awards next month, which will honor exceptional talent in the genre based on fan votes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, nominees Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town and Luke Bryan will also be showcasing their talent on the stage. The four of them are nominated for 2013 Video of the Year, among a handful of other nominees.
Nominees for 2013 Video of the Year include Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” Hayes’ “Wanted,” Little Big Town’s “Tornado,” Bryan’s “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” Brad Paisley’s “Southern Comfort Zone,” Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart,” Tim McGraw’s “One of Those Nights” and Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away.”
Underwood, who is currently on a world tour, will also be performing at the star-studded event. The “American Idol”-turned-Grammy winner took to Twitter on Monday to confirm the news, saying “Yup, I’m honored to be performing on the @CMT Awards on June 5th! It’s going to be a fun night!” Besides performing that day, she also will be celebrating her soccer player husband Mike Fisher’s birthday.
MTV reports that the six finalists for the 2013 Video of the Year category will not be announced until the show’s live telecast from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 5. The finalists will be revealed at the start of the show and fans will be directed to cast their vote to determine a winner by the show’s end.
Fans can vote for the other categories, which are Male Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year, Group Video of the Year, Duo Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year, Breakthrough Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year, online at CMT.com or through the CMT Insider app on their iPhone, iPad or Android device up until Sunday, June 2. Nominated artists include Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill and Eric Church.
The awards show will be hosted by Jason Aldean, a multiple nominee this year, and “Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell. This will be the second time around hosting for Bell. Last year, she shared the stage with Toby Keith.
