Will you watch "Mike Tyson Mysteries?"
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson will get animated by Adult Swim, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The animated comedy series “Mike Tyson Mysteries” will feature an animated version of Tyson, voiced by the famous boxer himself.
According to a news release from Adult Swim, viewers will watch Tyson solve complex mysteries in “Mike Tyson Mysteries.” Mysteries like how to beat a super computer at chess will be no match for Tyson, his talking pigeon and his magical face tattoo.
THR also reports that “Mike Tyson Mysteries” will join seven other new originals and nine pilots.
Adult Swim is entering its annual Upfront event in New York City on the heels of the best ratings year in the network’s history. In fact, Adult Swim has now been basic cable’s #1 network with young adults for eight years running.
According to Stuart Snyder, president and coo of Turner’s Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media Group, Adult Swim needs to create more original programs in order to build on the success of previous years as basic cable’s #1 network with young adults. Snyder said that the network’s success is due primarily to the excellent work being done by the employees at Adult Swim.
An animated TV series isn’t the only place you will find Tyson working on his acting chops this year. The former world heavyweight boxing champion is delivering a knockout stage performance of “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth” at various theaters across the country.
Charles McNulty, a Los Angeles Times Theater Critic, said that Tyson’s live stage show is memorizing because of the boxer’s “riveting stage presence” and “compelling stories.”
