Instagram says that tagging a photo will be as a easy as adding a hashtag.
Instagram recently added Facebook-style tagging to photos, reports USA Today. The new feature is called “Photos of You,” according to a post on Instagram’s official blog.
Instagram says that tagging a photo will be as a easy as adding a hashtag. Not only can you tag you and your friends in a photo, you can also tag your favorite pizza restaurant or that cute little bunny that lives in your backyard.
Wired offers an excellent guide on how to add and remove tagged Instagram photos from your profile. Just like Facebook users, Instagram users will eventually ask the following question when dealing with the photo-sharing app’s new tagging feature: How do I remove a tagged Instagram photo from my profile if I don’t care for the picture?
According to Wired, you have two different options when you find yourself tagged in an embarassing Instagram photo. Once the photo appears in the “Photos of You” tab on your profile page, simply tap the photo, then tap your Instagram handle and select “Hide from My Profile.” However, if you’re looking for a permanent solution you can tap the “More Options” button and select “Remove Me from Photo.”
It makes sense that Instagram wants to be more like Facebook, as the social media network bought the photo-sharing app in 2012 for a cool $1 billion. According to The New York Time’s Deal Book, the Instagram acquisition is starting to look like a wise choice for social media mogul Mark Zuckerberg. Since the acquisition, Deal Book says that Instagram has doubled its monthly user base.
Does Instagram’s new Facebook-style tagging feature make you more likely to use the photo-sharing app? How often do you tag the photos you post to Facebook? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
