Will Monteith have to go back to rehab?
“Glee” star Cory Monteith left rehab and reunited with Lea Michele Friday, according to PEOPLE. Monteith “voluntarily” entered rehab at the end of March for substance addiction. According to multiple reports, this is the second time that actor has been to rehab.
An insider told PEOPLE that Monteith spent approximately a month being treated for substance addiction.
Monteith was certainly excited about leaving rehab, thanking his fans for their support via Twitter. Michele was also excited about the “Glee” star’s return from rehab, tweeting that Friday was a “great day.”
When Monteith entered rehab, the actor’s rep told The Hollywood Reporter that Monteith wanted his fans and the media to respect his privacy as he dealt with an extremely personal matter. At the time, “Glee” was in the process of filming its fourth season. Though Monteith plays a key role in the popular TV series, his absence didn’t disrupt the filming of the show’s remaining two episodes. In fact, 20th Century Fox TV issued a statement of support for the actor.
Monteith and Michele were spotted at Los Angeles International Airport Friday, according to PEOPLE. A source told E! News that the couple seemed happy to be together and that Cory answered with an emphatic “good” when airport security asked him how his day was going.
Substance abused has been an ongoing issue for Monteith. In 2011, the “Glee” actor admitted to Parade magazine that by age 13 he was skipping school to drink and smoke marijuana. When he dropped out of high school at the age of 16, he had been to a total of 16 schools. Cory characterized his life before rehab as completely “out of control.”
