Ozzy Osbourne addresses split rumors, apologizes for substance abuse relapse

Is Ozzy kicked out?

Several reports recently have alleged that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are on the verge of a split, with both being spotted without their wedding rings and Sharon being photographed moving into a new house. The Black Sabbath frontman, 64, addressed those rumors on his official Facebook page Tuesday — and also apologized to his family, bandmates and fans for his substance abuse relapse.

“For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs,” he wrote on Facebook (via the New York Daily News). “I was in a very dark place and was an a–hole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober. Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I’m just trying to be a better person. I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period………and my fans.”

Ozzy — who has abused alcohol and drugs for decades and who has been to rehab before — wrote his Facebook post after the British tabloid The Sun alleged over the weekend that he and Sharon, 60, have been living apart after 31 years of marriage.

“They are living at different addresses and not spending any time together,” a “friend” told The Sun. “They row a lot. They aren’t acting like husband and wife. It is unusual to not even have dinner together when both of them are five minutes apart. … Sharon and Ozzy have had plenty of opportunities to meet up but haven’t spent any time together at all. Sharon films ‘The Talk’ four days a week and Ozzy has been rehearsing but they’ve both had days off and still not seen one another. It’s pretty unusual for a married couple to spend such a long time apart, especially when they both have drivers and can be at each other’s houses in five minutes.”

However, son Jack Osbourne denied The Sun’s report on Twitter. And another “source” backed up Ozzy’s claim that a divorce is not in the works, telling TMZ on Tuesday that “Sharon and Ozzy have done this [separated] before, and it’s a good bet they’ll pull a Danny DeVito/Rhea Perlman and rekindle the relationship.”
