Faith Hill exits ‘Sunday Night Football’ after six years; Who should replace her?

Hill tweeted Monday that she is no longer part of "Sunday Night Football" after entertaining viewers for six years.

Fans of “Sunday Night Football” will be disappointed to learn that country singer Faith Hill has said goodbye to being a part of the sports show’s opening theme song.

Hill tweeted Monday that she is no longer part of “Sunday Night Football” after entertaining viewers for six years.

Tim McGraw’s wife sang a modified version of Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” called “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”

Hill called her work with the football show “an honor” and said that she had decided it was the right time to give someone else the chance to “rock the open.” She also said that the decision was a “difficult” and “emotional” one.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Faith replaced Pink, who sang the “Sunday Night Football” theme in 2006.

Not only will NFL fans miss Faith’s opening theme song, but the country singer will be sorely missed by staffers at the NBC sports program. According to a statement Fred Gaudelli, lead producer for “Sunday Night Football,” gave to THR, NBC was extremely happy with Faith’s performances and her friendship.

THR also noted that Hill’s song was mocked by several TV shows over the years, including “Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock” and on South Park.

According to AceShowbiz, Gaudelli praised Hill’s “mega-star” abilities when she first performed the opening theme song for “Sunday Night Football.”

Though there’s no word on who will replace the country singer, but Gaudelli remarked that the theme song won’t be changed for the new singer.

The New York Daily News points out that Cee Lo Green sang the opening theme song of “Thursday Night Football” last season and that “Monday Night Football” switched to an instrumental intro after Hank Williams Jr.’s anti-Obama comment.

Did you like Hill’s opening theme song for “Sunday Night Football?” Was this really a personal decision or did Hill experience a contract issue with NBC? Who should replace Hill? Sound off in the comments section.
