Do you find Kathy Griffin funny?
Kathy Griffin’s talk show has been axed by Bravo, according to the New York Daily News. Griffin confirmed the cancellation Friday night during a comedy show in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Daily News notes that the second season of Griffin’s talk show, “Kathy,” debuted in January but was soon moved from its 10 pm time slot to 11:30 pm because of dismal ratings. According to Vibe, “Kathy” averaged 417,167 viewers, but only 231,583 viewers in the key 18-59 demographic. Bravo has been working with Griffin since the comedian starred in her own reality show, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.”
Cincinatti.com’s Chris Varias, who reviewed Griffin’s Friday night performance, was less than impressed with the comedian’s jokes. According to Varias, the crowd booed in reaction to the news of the comedian’s talk show cancellation and Griffin predicted that the network would suffer without her.
Griffin, known for her controversial brand of humor, started off 2013 by simulating oral sex on Anderson Cooper as they hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve live show. Griffin discussed Cooper’s genitalia and tried to simulate oral sex on her extremely embarrassed and openly gay friend.
The Daily News reports that this is just the latest in a string of incidents designed to attract attention to herself. In 2009, the comedian dropped the F bomb and a year ago she stripped down to her underwear after watching Lady Gaga perform during the New Year’s Eve live show.
Griffin may not disappear from TV for too long, as it was reported in March that the comedian filmed a test pilot with Cooper for CNN. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva notes that CNN’s new boss Jeff Zucker could be eyeing the pilot because he wants to add more “mainstream entertainment fare” to the cable news network.
